On July 26th 2010, at 17:42hrs members of Russell County OPP responded to a serious collision between a car and a Tractor Trailer on Landry Road at Baseline Road in the City of Clarence-Rockland.
Tiffany Desrivières, 26 years old of Rockland area was driving a Kia Rio. She was south bound on Landry Road approaching the intersection of Baseline Road. For unknown reasons, she proceeded to make a left hand turn onto Baseline Road directly into the path of a north bound Tractor Trailer. The driver of the transport truck, a 51 year old man from Stittsville was unable to avoid the collision and struck the front passenger side of the Kia Rio.
The passenger of the Kia Rio, Andrée Desrivières, 27 years old of Rockland area was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver of the Kia Rio, who suffered serious injuries, was transported by land ambulance to the Ottawa Civic hospital. The driver of the tractor trailer was not injured.
The Fire department of the City of Clarence-Rockland were dispatched to assist Russell County OPP.
Constable Lacroix, a Technical Traffic Collision Investigator, is assisting members of Russell County OPP to determine the exact cause of the collision.
Alcohol and speeding were not a factor in this collision.
Both Landry and Baseline roads are presently closed.
Investigation continuing.
